چکیده

Galzigna, L., Ferraro, M. V., Manani, G., and Viola, A. (1973). British Journal of Industrial Medicine, 30, 129-133. Biochemical basis for the toxic effects of triethyl lead. The effects of triethyl lead (PbEt3) have been studied in vitro on the cholinesterase activity of rat diaphragm and in vivo on serum cholinesterase in the dog. PbEt3 dramatically increases the duration of succinylcholine-induced myoneural block and pyridine-2-aldoxime methiodide (PAM) is able to counteract both cholinesterase inhibition and the effects on neuromuscular transmission. On the other hand, PbEt3 catalyses the rearrangement of catecholamines to aminochromes in vitro and inhibits catecholamine effect on smooth muscle contraction. The toxicity of PbEt3 and particularly its action on the central nervous system can be explained by a combination of effects which might result from an upset of cholinergic and adrenergic central pathways due to the formation of endogenous psychotogenic complexes.

Effects of triethyl lead on hot-plate responsiveness and biochemical properties of hippocampus.

Rats treated with a single dose of triethyl lead chloride (TEL) by subcutaneous injection (7.9 mg/kg) showed a transient increase in latencies to lick the hind paw during hot-plate testing. The time course of triethyl lead-induced antinociception was temporally associated with depressed binding capacity of benzodiazepine receptor sites and reduced levels of Substance P. Both of these changes ap...

Bioaccumulation of Lead in the Tissues of Japanese Quails and Its Effects on Blood Biochemical Factors

Background: Lead is the oldest known toxic metal, physiologically and biologically harmful to living creatures. This study aimed to evaluate the lead accumulation in the liver and breast muscles of Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) and to compare concentrations in both sexes and its effect on blood biochemical factors. Methods: Twenty-four young farm Japanese quails (25 day old) prepared fr...

Histological Changes in the Liver and Biochemical Parameters of Chickens Treated with Lead Acetate II

Background: Lead is one of the heavy metals that is persists in the environment and has destructive effects on various human tissues. We investigated the effects of lead on the histological features of liver and its enzymatic functions. Methods: Forty chickens were purchased and randomly divided into four groups. In addition to the normal feed, each group received different doses of lead aceta...

The Evaluation of Deferasirox on Hematological Parameters after Lead Administration

Background: Metals such as iron, zinc, and copper are critical and necessary for the survival of all living organisms, whereas xenobiotic metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic have no known biologic role. Any metals in high doses can have toxic effects. The aim of this work was to evaluate the hematological changes induced by lead as a toxic metal and characterize the potential eff...

Oxidative stress, biochemical alterations, and hyperlipidemia in female rats induced by lead chronic toxicity during puberty and post puberty periods

Objective(s):Lead (Pb) is a toxic metal inducing many destructive effects leading to a broad range of physiological, biochemical, and neurological dysfunctions in humans and laboratory animals. Materials and Methods: Here, we investigated the effect of chronic exposure to Pb (50 mg/l) on oxidative stress, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and lipid profile of two different age groups of female r...
